As we get through the work week, high pressure returns westward to the Desert Southwest. Extreme Heat Warnings (in pink) have been issued for cities including Phoenix, Las Vegas, Tucson, and Yuma. Heat Advisories (in orange) have been issued across the Inland Empire of California and around Salt Lake City.

We started the week with plenty of triple digits across the Southwest, and the heat will continue through the weekend. Temperatures will run above average for folks across an already hot Southwest into next week. Even if you don't look at the numbers, look at the color contours as they show extreme heat for the Desert Southwest.
Storm ThreatIsolated flash flooding will be possible each afternoon for areas that can see storms develop, which will be most of the Four Corners region.
With a high-pressure system sliding in, we'll manage to pick up some moisture, increasing the heat index and the chance for some storms for the Four Corners throughout the weekend.
